The 50th Suwon Cultural festival, Successfuly Finished!

 

 

The 50th Suwon Cultural Festival,held for 5 days from 27th Sept to 1st Oct and 800,000 people visited, has been successfully finished. A variety of traditional events including King Jeongjo's procession, 'Night military training show, 60th birthday party of Lady Hong was held at Suwon Hwaseong, The world heritage, built by King Jeongjo with great dream.

Thank you for the visitors and we will see you next year with the 51th Suwon cultural Festival.

Folk songs and classical music from Korea and America performed by the professional Suwon Civic Chorale.

Spend the evening immersed in a cultural nest of harmonies from foreign lands. Featuring beautiful, moving, original choral pieces by renowned Korean composers Sung-Hyun Yoon, Jung-Sun Park, JeeYoung Kim, Ki-Young Kim, and Gyun-Yong Lee. This is sure to be one concert you won't soon forget.

Founded in 1983, Korea's Suwon Civic Chorale has been hailed as a "World-Class Choral Ensemble" bringing forth premiere harmonies.

[Suwon Hwaseong] Hwahongmun, the North Floodgate

The north gate, which is located below the Banghwasuryujeong, is called Hwahongmun, which means “beautiful rainbow-colored gate.” It was constructed over a river by broadening Suwoncheon, which flows through the Hwaseong Fortress, and set up a bridge with seven holes. Above this gate, a multi-story building was erected. Hwahongmun played a role of a bridge, connecting villages from the either side of the river. A bower on the river was used as a resting area for the people and facilities were equipped with canons to protect the Fortress.
