Suwon Training Center is holding a special event, “An Invitation from Artisans.”
Suwon Training Center is holding a special event, “An Invitation from Artisans” until October 16th. Bokryun Kim, an intangible cultural property No.8 for Seungmu and Salpuri (Korean traditional shamanic dance), Soonki Kim, an intangible cultural property No.14 for his craftsmanship of traditional doors and windows, Jonguk Kim, an intangible cultural property No 28 for his craftsmanship of traditional wall painting, and Yeonuk Lee, an intangible cultural property for his craftsmanship of Buddhist painting, have been teaching their skills at Suwon Training Center. The event will have a total of 12 programs including performance, experience, and exhibition of artisans, trainers, and learners. Bokrun Kim will direct performances such as Samulnori, Sogo Dance, and chamber music with Hwaseong Jaeinchung Dance Company. She will also show you the basic rhythm of Samulnori and the basic motions of traditional dance. Jonguk Kim, an artisan of traditional wall painting, and Yeonuk Lee, an artisan of Buddhist painting, will introduce unique Korean colors and patterns to you with trainers and learners. They will also provide an activity to paint traditional patterns for the audience. The center will exhibit works of Soonki Kim, an artisan of traditional doors and windows. This event is designed to introduce Suwon intangible cultural properties to people and highlight their artisan spirits so that the audience can experience the depth of traditional art and culture.
